They have performed for state & national conventions, and have opened for international musicians such as Scotland's Jim Malcolm (of Old Blind Dogs) and Canada's Enter the Haggis. Across the Pond is Michael Morrison, Charles Kadyk, Dan Diviney and Molly Shortridge, the Mid-Atlantic States' exciting traditional Celtic folk group. With ancestral blood of Ireland and Scotland pumping through their veins, they breathe new life into traditional tunes and songs with their unique and exciting arrangements. They have lovey hauntingly beautiful slow airs sure to make you wedding ceremony or reception memorable. In March 2015, they were announced co-winners of the Texas Scots Talent Competition. Their music has been topping the N1M music charts. Their song I Know My Love was named Top Celtic Song for 2015 in the Contemporary category by Celtic Music Radio, and another track was nominates Best Roots Traditional set. They have been booking many weddings, both with GigMasters and directly, and are playing weddings in Washington, DC, Baltimore, Lancaster, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, State College, Virginia Beach, Montreal, Niagara-on-the-Lake and many, many more places. The band can perform music for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Their repertoire includes both Irish & Scottish tunes and songs. And they can add some Appalachian Mountain music if requested. They are easy to work with and do their best to help make your wedding an especially memorable experience. Mike grew up playing bluegrass, old-time and blues guitar, eventually branching out into rock and country. He began performing full time in 1995 with country rockers Latigo Smith before moving on to help form regional powerhouse Hired Guns. Nowadays Mike carries a full schedule of guitar students, as well as being a first-call, freelance artist for a variety of genres. Across the Pond is his first Celtic band. Charles grew up in a musical family and began playing the violin at age 8. He taught music for 34 years to students at all levels from Pre-K thru College, specializing in orchestra, in both PA and ME. He has been an active performer for over 40 years, getting into fiddling in the mid 90’s. Over the years he was a student of Leonard Mogill, of the Phila. Orchestra, and Brian Conway, world renowned Sligo style Fiddler. He has performed in various ensembles and styles locally, such as The Harrisburg Symphony, The Know Return Band, (Kansas tribute band), The Belfast Connection and the Fair Trade Celtic Bands, as well as being an active free-lance performer and session musician, on both fiddle and viola. He has had the honor to share the stage with such diverse artists as Brian Conway, Mark O’Connor, Rosemary Clooney, Anne Murray, Collin Ray, Helen Reddy, Shirley Jones, and Casting Crowns. Molly Shortridge (B.M., Temple University), started out her music career as a music therapist and classical flutist but became enamored with Celtic music over the years. As the owner of a music and arts center, “The Perfect 5th”and also “The Fluteplace of Central PA”, she maintains a large teaching studio. Molly has taught flute pedagogy seminars at national and regional conventions, and workshops in colleges. She has also performed in orchestras, ensembles, and as a soloist, throughout central PA and Italy. Additionally, she is a published artist who specializes in flute related artwork. She performs with Across the Pond on an array of flutes; from the silver Boehm flute, a wooden 6-holed Celtic flute, whistles, alto flute, piccolo, and more. Dan has been playing whistles and bodhran at Irish sessions throughout the US and Ireland since 1999. He was self-taught on both instruments and can't read a lick of music. He plays a Seamus O'Kane bodhrán (rack & pinion model) and Burke, Reyburn & Copeland whistles. Dan hosts two traditional Irish seisiuns at the Garryowen Irish Pub in Gettysburg each month. He previously formed two other Irish bands, and has recently begun performing solo. Our listed pricing range includes from 1-hour, local gigs, to much longer weddings and corporate events, both nationally and internationally.
